Versatile, with a shimmering warm voice and compelling stage presence Austrian Soprano Martha Harreiter instantly captivates her listeners. From angelic spheres to melancholic dreams and dramatic scenes Martha Harreiter exudes beauty and excitement from the very first note. Specialized in Lied repertoire, the colourful soprano is Fellow of the Heidelberg Lied Academy with Thomas Hampson and holds scholarships of the International Summer Academy Mozarteum Salzburg with Wolfgang Holzmair and the Music Academy Tyrol with Stephan Matthias Lademann.
During the past year Martha Harreiter stayed in touch with her audience by hosting live streams for voice concerts with piano and viola da gamba from her living room. She dedicated herself to promoting the works of female composers on IDAGIO and designed new exciting projects being realized from 2021. Upcoming events during 2022 include concerts with Joseph Avila and Nora Romanoff- Schwarzberg in spring and the second edition of the chamber music festival “Joie de vivre” in July where she will perform a selection of French mélodies. Martha Harreiter will also premiere her new Classic Lied Program together with Swedish pianist Daniel Beskow. Regular solo masses and oratorio concerts round off a freshly flourishing season.
Martha Harreiter made her debut on stage 2017 in Offenbach’s operetta Pariser Leben at Theater an der Rott (GER). With her versatile soprano she sang at the world premiere of Larry Coryell's jazz opera Anna Karenina with the Russian Philharmonic and already performed several oratorio pieces, including a staged version of Orff’s Carmina Burana, and Mozart’s Great Mass in c with Erwin Ortner. Her debut at the International Baroque Festival Melk 2020 in Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas” had to be postponed.
Calling Lied a matter very close to her heart, Martha Harreiter has been singing recitals in Vienna, Salzburg, Heidelberg, Berlin and many more places with repertoire from the Early Baroque up to contemporary music. She has been working, amongst others, with Lied pianists Stephan Matthias Lademann, Markus Hadulla, Ammiel Bushakevitz, Yuto Kiguchi, Joseph Avila, Stephen Delaney and Daniel Beskow. Also, she forms a duo with the viol player Maria Danneberg.
Martha Harreiter studied at Mozarteum Salzburg, at Anton Bruckner Private University Linz and completed her studies at University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Rannveig Braga-Postl. Since then she has been working with Julie Kaufmann in Berlin and Tanya Aspelmeier in Vienna. Additional Master Classes and a specialization in Historical Performance Practice complement her education.
The young soprano is also a graduate of Salzburg Law School. In her free time she enjoys working on her family’s farm in Austria. Also, she loves reading Rilke poems – ideally in the summers lying underneath a calm, widespread treetop.
