Violin
Djanay Tulenova, born 1992 in Kazakhstan, studies in the class (violin) of Prof. Christian Altenberger at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. The multiple award-winning violinist was already at the age of 5 at the “K. Baiseitova National Music School for Gifted Chile ”in Almaty / Kazakhstan and trained with distinction until graduation (2011). She then studied violin with Prof. Alexander Kirov at the “Moscow State Conservatory P. I. Tschaikovsky” and violin with Prof. Boris Belkin at the “Maastricht Academy of Music” in the Netherlands (graduated her Bachelors with distinction in 2015).
During her training, the young musician won numerous international music competitions in Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Russia and the Netherlands. Most recently she was a semi-finalist at the VII. International Yampolsky Violin Competition ”in Moscow (2017), at the“ Maastricht Award 2015 ”she was awarded the audience prize. Djanay Tulenova complemented her musical education with master classes that took her to Italy, Austria, Russia, Greece and Switzerland. Her mentors include Christian Altenburger (professor at the MdW, soloist), Hubert Kroisamer (concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic), Zakhar Bron (music teacher, Switzerland), Boris Kushmir (music teacher, Vienna), Boris Belkin (Academia Musicale Chigiana; Siena Italy), Alexander Glyaniki (Moscow State Conservatory) and Petru Munteanu (Lichtenberg, Germany). She took private lessons with the world-famous soloist Alexandros Kavadasu in Athens and with Alexander Labko in Berlin. The fact that Djanay Tulenova makes music at a high level, expresses excellent tone formation, technical ability, joy in playing and the security of the first-class trained musician is evident in her solo performances as well as in her ensemble and orchestral playing.
In 2017 she played in chamber music projects with the soloist Raymung Lissy and members of the Vienna Philharmonic. In the same year she played a series of 7 chamber music concerts with Mathias Schorn (principal clarinet of the Vienna Philharmonic), Christian Altenburger (violin), Reinhard Latzko (violoncello) and Thomas Sedlitz (viola) at the Festival Con Animo / Austria. 2014-2016 she was a member of the “Eurasia Quartet” Masstricht, 2014 of the “Schönberg Sextett” in Stanford / USA, and 2008-2011 of the “National Quartet” in Almaty / Kazakhstan. The highlights of her orchestral activities in 2016 include Dvorak's Symphony No. 2 with the Webern Sinfonietta Vienna under the direction of Zubin Metha in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein Wien (1st violin) as well as projects with the Webern Symphony Orchestra under Zubin Metha (2nd violin) and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra Vienna under the direction of Amaury Du Closel (1st violin).
As a soloist, Djanay Tulenova delighted audiences with performances (solo recitals) in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Russia and her home country Kazakhstan. She interpreted works by Mozart, Paganini, Prokofiev, Dvorak, Vieuxtemps, Vivaldi, Mostras, Viotti, Beethoven, Korsakov, Tschaikowsky, Svendzen, Wieniawski, Khachaturian, Bruch, Saint Saens. Professionally, Djanay Tulenova is aiming for an orchestral position as a chamber musician. Trained and familiar with the teaching concepts and methods of the Russian and European violin school, she also wants to further develop music education in her home country, e.g. initiate school, fund and festival projects and familiarize young musicians with the concepts and didactics of the European violin school . Djanay Tulenova, who speaks English and German in addition to her mother tongue (Russian-Kazakh), is a 2017/2018 scholarship holder of the Dr. Robert and Lina Thyll-Dürr / Switzerland.
